We Own This City, a six-episode HBO short series from producers The Wire (2002-2008) and The Deuce (2017), will premiere on the same day as the US Tuesday, April 26 at 8 a.m. EDT on HBO and HBO GO, with a rerun on the same day at 9 p.m. EDT on HBO.
Taken from the book by Baltimore Sun journalist Justin Fenton, We Own This City tells the story of the rise and fall of the Baltimore Arms Tracking Task Force as the corruption and depravity of the Baltimore Police Department hit an American city, where drug prohibition policies and mass arrests were heralded at the expense of real police work.
Jon Bernthal as Sergeant Wayne Jenkins from the Baltimore Police Department, perhaps the central figure in a widespread federal corruption case, centers on the Arms Tracking Task Force, a plainclothes unit that goes really awry and begins hunting down and robbing citizens and drug dealers alike, much like the relentless drug war and decades of mass detention in Baltimore that went unchecked.
We Own This City also stars Wunmi Mosaku, Jamie Hector, McKinley Belcher III, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Josh Charles, Dagmara Domińczyk, Rob Brown, Don Harvey, David Corenswet, Larry Mitchell, Ian Duff, Delaney Williams, and Lucas Van Engen.
The series’ guest stars include Treat Williams, Gabrielle Carteris, Tray Chaney, Domenick Lombardozzi, Thaddeus Street, Jermaine Crawford, Nathan E. Corbett, Chris Clanton, Anwan Glover, Bobby Brown, Michael Salconi, Susan Rome, Kim Tuvin, and Maria Broom. .
