Lily James, Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Himesh Patel to Star in Murder Mystery Comedy, Providence

Production company Limelight and Boies Schiller Entertainment have just announced that they are working together once again to revive the comedy film project Providencewith stars Lily JamesJoseph Gordon-Levitt, and Himesh Patel.

According to reports from Deadline, the film’s story will follow the story of a resident of a small island town whose life changes drastically after a murder takes place in a once peaceful community. As they investigate, the murder gets even more bizarre, as does the reason why it happened.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, recently completed two very different projects: Mr. Corman from Apple TV+ where he played a public school teacher in the San Fernando Valley and played Uber billionaire and CEO Travis Kalanick in Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber for Showtime. The actor will also voice Jiminy Cricket in the live-action adaptation Pinnochio which will come.

Lily James herself has starred in several famous films and series such as Cinderella, Baby Driverand Downton Abbeybut the turning point in his career may come with his latest role in the Hulu series, Pam & Tommy. The story centers around the infamous Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee (played by Sebastian Stan) and leaked sex tapes that forever change their lives — for better and for worse. James’ performance as Anderson has been hailed as the best of his career.

While Himesh Patel has long played a role in the British series Eastenders which was hugely popular, but he rose to international prominence after playing the lead role in Yesterday, a musical comedy in which a man is the only one who can remember The Beatles ever existed and James also starred in the film. Since that career-changing role, Patel has starred in Don’t Look Up, Station Eleven, and Christopher Nolan’s Tenet.

Providence will be directed by Potsy Ponciroli, who previously directed Old Henry and Super Zeroes. The screenplay was written by Michael Vukadinovich, who once wrote Marvel’s RunawaysJim Carrey’s drama series entitled Kiddingand was also involved in writing the Beetlejuice 2 film project. The pre-production process of Providence started earlier this week in North Carolina.
