The Indonesian men’s team team beat Japan 2-0 in the semifinal match of the 2022 Thomas Cup, Friday (13/5/2022) after the men’s doubles pair Mohammad Ahsan/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo defeated Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi.

In the match at the Impact Arena, Bangkok, Thailand, the duel of Ahsan/Kevin and representatives of the State of Sakura was very tight before the representatives of Indonesia won with a score of 22-20, 8-21, 24-22.

Ahsan/Kevin started this match badly. They were left so far behind Hoki/Kobayashi with a score of 7-17.

However, Ahsan/Kevin was amazingly able to rise through his calm and mentality. They recorded eight consecutive points to reduce the gap to 13-17.

Ahsan/Kevin was able to take advantage of this momentum and on the other hand, the Japanese representative was “mentally hit” until they turned depressed.

Slowly but surely, Ahsan/Kevin began to be able to balance the opponent’s energetic and fast game until the peak was able to win in the first game with a score of 22-20 after winning five consecutive points.

In the second game, Ahsan/Kevin were again attacked by Hoki/Kobayashi, who from the start of the match appeared so energetic through hard smashes that kept them down 1-5.

Ahsan/Kevin continued to be depressed after that. They were really made helter-skelter and did not give a breath to the representatives of Merah Putih.

This situation made Ahsan / Kevin unable to find an opening to attack back until they were 4-14 behind.
