Chelsea have reached an initial agreement to sign Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan on a free transfer in the summer window.
Crazy Ball – The 33-year-old is out of contract with the Nerazzurri at the end of this season, and has yet to reach a new agreement with the Italian champions.
The Croatia international star reportedly wants a new three-year contract at the Giuseppe Meazza, which is worth around £100,000 per week. However, Inter only offered a two-year deal with a salary of around 65 thousand Pounds or around IDR 1.2 billion for a week.
Perisic was angered by Inter’s approach to his contract situation, and criticized his club after he scored twice as Inter beat Juventus in the Coppa Italia final in midweek. “I don’t know anything yet. With important players, you don’t have to wait until the last minute. You have to know that too,” Perisic told Sports Mediasetas reported by Metro.
According to the Italian media, Perisic has now agreed an initial agreement with Chelsea, and is ready to leave Inter on a free transfer at the end of this season.
The report claims the deal is subject to medical tests and the final formalities of the deal itself have yet to be signed. However, the Blues seem to be in a position where Perisic is sure to be.
The 33-year-old winger has been an influential player in the Inter Milan squad this season, where he has contributed seven goals and six assists in Serie A so far.
Perisic helped lead Inter to their Serie A title under Antonio Conte last season, but this season Inter are second behind city rivals AC Milan by two points and both have two games remaining.
Meanwhile, Chelsea, unable to move freely due to restrictions imposed by the British government on its owner, Roman Abramovich, since March. The reigning Champions League champions cannot offer new contracts to their players, so Thomas Tuchel will lose Antonio Rudiger who will move to Real Madrid for free in the summer.
The Blues are currently awaiting a takeover of ownership of the club from Abramovich to American businessman Todd Boehly, which is expected to be completed at the end of this season, and paving the way for the West London side to carry out their transfer plans.
