bbn/illustration/Shipping of thousands of cows from Bima to Jabodetabek is constrained.
But the problem is that there are road closures such as in Denpasar, Bali and East Java due to the FMD outbreak. Currently, cattle breeders and entrepreneurs in Bima are worried because of the Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) which is endemic in some parts of Indonesia.
Lockdown or closure of livestock shipments to a number of areas in western Indonesia, has made the process of sending cattle from Bima encountering obstacles.
Information obtained from the Livestock Service Office of Bima Regency, estimates that 10 thousand cows will be sent this year. This is only to meet the needs of Eid al-Adha 1443 Hijriyah in DKI Jakarta, Bogor, Bekasi, Tangerang and surrounding areas.
“500 cows have just been dispatched. There are still 9,500 cows left,” said the Head of Livestock Services for Bima Regency, Syaifuddin.
Farmers and businessmen are now looking for ways to ship their cows. The sea toll transportation capacity can only be a maximum of 500 cows. This capacity is much less when compared to the number of cattle that must be shipped.
Not to mention the target for the delivery of cattle, which should be in Jakarta by now.
“Because Eid al-Adha is coming soon. After traveling long distances, the cows also need rehabilitation,” said Syaifuddin.
