The U-23 Indonesian national team was forced to be without Saddil Ramdani in the last two games in Group A of the 2021 SEA Games. The 23-year-old winger had to return to the Malaysian club, Sabah FC.
Saddil left the Indonesian U-23 national team after massacring Timor Leste 4-1 on 10 May 2022. He also played when the team nicknamed the Young Garuda lost 0-3 to Vietnam on 6 May 2022.
Saddil began to be absent when the U-23 Indonesian National Team celebrated four goals without replying to the Philippines goal on Friday (13/5/2022).
He also couldn’t play when the U-23 Indonesian national team underwent a life-and-death match in Group A against Myanmar on Sunday (15/5/2022).
“Our agreement with Sabah FC is that Saddil only gets the opportunity to play once in the preliminary round,” said PSSI Secretary General Yunus Nusi in Viet Tri, Phu Tho.
“Because there is communication between the Technical Director of PSSI, Indra Sjafri and the coach of Sabah FC, Ong Kim Swee, Saddil Ramdani can still play,” he explained.
Just returned to Sabah FC, Saddil had managed to get his name on the scoreboard when the team nicknamed The Rhinos silenced Kelantan United 2-1 in the Malaysian FA Cup, Friday (13/5/2022) at Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu.
Saddil scored a spectacular goal by releasing a hard kick from outside the penalty box which penetrated the Kelantan United goal.
Currently, the U-23 Indonesian National Team is in second place in Group A of the 2021 SEA Games with six points from two parties.
The U-23 Indonesian national team is one point behind Vietnam as the group leader. Garuda Muda has the same points as Myanmar in third position, but is ahead on goal difference.
The U-23 Indonesian national team will face Myanmar in the final Group A match. Garuda Muda just needs a draw to advance to the 2021 SEA Games semifinals.
“We are in constant communication with Sabah FC. Hopefully, if the U-23 Indonesian National Team enters the semifinals, he can return to the 2021 SEA Games,” said Yunus Nusi.
