Satria Dewa: Gatot Kaca, Hanung Bramantyo Presents Puppet Characters with Contemporary Appearance

1NEWS – Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca is ready to be shown in cinemas. Through this film, director Hanung Bramantyo presents many action scenes with the support of advanced technology.

The film Satria Dewa: Gatot Kaca depicts a puppet legend who is very popular in Indonesia. In order to be accepted by millennials, Hanung changed the characteristics of Gatotkaca in his films to be more contemporary.

“Although Gatotkaca’s human creations are not rich in holy books, we still respect them. We don’t change 100 percent, there must be Gatotkaca’s identity,” said Hanung Bramantyo, in the Depok area, West Java, Friday (13/5).

In addition to the overall costume, Hanung Bramantyo also modified the star symbol on Gatotkaca’s chest.

“We made it modern. Why used to have a mustache in the 40’s and 50’s, right, that’s why the mustache became a symbol of masculinity. Besides the mustache, there is also an antakusuma bra. children now,” he explained.

The film Satria Dewa: Gatotkaca will be shown in cinemas throughout Indonesia on June 9, 2022. Apart from Rizky Nazar, this film also stars Yasmine Nepper, Omar Daniel, Yayan Ruhian, and Cecep Arif Rahman.
