Persib Bandung coach, Robert Alberts, admitted that he did not know exactly what pre-season tournament would be before entering the 2022/2023 Liga 1 which is scheduled to start in July 2022.

Until now, according to Robert Alberts, there is no certainty regarding the schedule and venue for the tournament to be held. So far, it’s just a discourse that there will be a Presidential Cup tournament and a Solo Mayor’s Cup.

Even now, Persib has not received an official invitation regarding the tournament which will be held before the competition starts.

“We don’t know what tournament we will participate in. Nothing is certain because so far it’s just news,” said Robert Alberts in Bandung, Wednesday (18/5/2022).

Talking about the possibility of a training camp plan abroad, the Persib Bandung coach from the Netherlands emphasized that it is quite difficult to hold TC abroad.

“It is very difficult to hold TC outside Indonesia because all leagues are currently rolling. Singapore and Vietnam, especially Vietnam which will start again after the SEA Games. Then Thailand is also rolling,” said Robert Alberts.

“So it is very difficult to go outside Indonesia,” continued the former coach of PSM Makassar and Arema.

However, Ezra Walian et al. has started training to prepare for the 2022/2023 Liga 1 competition since Tuesday (17/5/2022) even though his squad is not yet complete.

While on the other hand, Robert Alberts regretted that this season’s Liga 1 competition was without clubs from Sumatra and the Eastern Indonesia region only represented by PSM Makassar.

“It’s a shame because Indonesia deserves to place a team from Papua in the League 1 competition. Indonesia also needs a team from Sumatra. However, if you look at his current state, his power map is no longer like that. Therefore, these teams must be tougher to ensure that they play again in Indonesia’s top caste competition,” said Robert.

“That’s professionalism. But, of course we are happy if there is a club from Sumatra and if Persipura returns to enliven Liga 1, the highest competition in Indonesia,” the 67-year-old coach concluded.

Persib Bandung has so far acquired five new players for Liga 1 2022. The five players who will be included in Robert Alberts’ team are Ricky Kambuaya, Rachmat Irianto, Ciro Alves, Fitrul Dwi Rustapa, Eriyanto.

Meanwhile, Persib has lost more players ahead of Liga 1 2022/2023. So far, Maung Bandung has lost Supardi Nasir, Gian Zola, Mario Jardel, Indra Maulana, Dhika Bhayangkara, Puja Abdillah, Ardi Idrus, Muhammad Natshir, and Aqil Savik.
