1NEWS – MD Pictures is on the rise. Continuing the success of the web series Layangan Putus, the production house founded by Manoj Punjabi with his father, Dhamoo Punjabi, in 2002 made a comeback in theaters with the film KKN Di Desa Penari.

The film, which was adapted from SimpleMan’s Twitter thread, was delayed twice until it was confirmed to be released on April 30, 2022. The results were amazing.

In just 20 days the film directed by Awi Suryadi became the highest-grossing Indonesian film of all time, overtaking Warkop DKI Reborn: Jangkrik Boss! Part 1 (2016) which had 6.8 million viewers.

KKN is not the only MD film that has successfully captured millions of viewers. Of the approximately 62 feature films produced, some of them even set records in the year they were published. Like Habibie & Ainun who broke the record for the highest-grossing film in 2012.

Here are 5 of MD Pictures’ best-selling films, with audiences of more than 2.5 million pairs of eyes.
