1NEWS – Chairman of PSSI Mochamad Iriawan confirm position Shin Tae-yong as the coach of the Indonesian National Team, he remained safe even though the Garuda Muda Squad certainly failed to win gold.

“Shin Tae-yong has a four-year contract. It’s safe. God willing, it’s safe,” said Iwan Bule as reported by Antara News.

According to the former high-ranking police officer, Shin’s role as a coach is still very much needed in preparing the Indonesian national team to face the challenge U-20 World Cup.

“The person concerned will be more accountable at U-20 later,” said Iwan.

Indonesia U-23 National Teamfailed to advance to the final of the men’s soccer sport SEA Games 2021 after losing 0-1 to Thailand.

The only goal of the match was scored by a senior Thai player Weerathep Pomphan in the first extra round.

The defeat made Indonesia repeat the achievements of the 2015 and 2017 SEA Games when the Garuda Muda squad also failed to enter the peak phase.

Coach Shin Tae-yong’s squad also failed to meet PSSI’s target of winning the 2021 SEA Games gold medal.

However, the hope of getting a medal from men’s soccer is still there by fighting for the bronze medal on Sunday (22/05/2022).

The Red and White Team will face Harimau Malaya who lost 0-1 to hosts Vietnam in the other semifinal match.
