Barcelona are expected to let Martin Braithwaite go on loan ahead of next season.
Crazy Ball – Braithwaite joined Barcelona from Leganes in February 2020 as an emergency signing, as Barca lost all of their forwards to injury.
Revealed Bara Universalwhen his arrival to the Camp Nou was booed by many, the Denmark international managed to win the hearts of the fans through his work ethic and commitment to the Blaugrana.
The former Middlesbrough striker started this season brilliantly, before he finally suffered an injury that kept him out for the rest of the year. However, managerial changes at Barcelona and the arrivals of Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang made it difficult for Braithwaite to find playing time.
So far, Braithwaite has only played twice under Xavi Hernandez. And, with Barca set to sign Robert Lewandowski – even Raphinha, his career prospects at Camp Nou have the potential to plummet even further.
So, he is very likely to leave Barca at the end of this season. While selling him could be profitable for Barca given the ongoing financial crisis, journalists ESPN Samuel Marsden claims Braithwaite could leave the Catalans on loan for another season.
A one-year loan deal wouldn’t be a bad idea, as long as Barcelona don’t have to share Braithwaite’s wages. It seems that there are many clubs interested in signing him next season, with Celta Vigo and Valencia believed to be the two clubs looking to borrow him from Camp Nou.
However, it will of course have to be seen again whether the clubs are indeed trying to sign Braithwaite when the summer transfer window opens next month. But over time, he seems to be leaving the Catalan team.
Previously reported, Martin Braithwaite seems ready to leave Barca, in order to get playing time at the club ahead of the Qatar World Cup title later this year. Moreover, Xavi does not seem to have any plans to empower his presence at Barca.
During the match against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League at the beginning of last month for example, Xavi still did not glance at Braithwaite even though Memphis Depay was sidelined by injury and Luuk de Jong was sick. Xavi preferred to play Aubameyang throughout the game, even though Braithwaite was available.
Braithwaite seems to really have to consider a career at Barcelona, even though almost no other club can afford his salary.
