The U-23 Indonesian national team will face Malaysia in the 2021 SEA Games bronze medal match at My Dinh National Stadium, Sunday (22/5/2022) afternoon. Malaysia coach, Brad Maloney, emphasized that his players are always motivated when dealing with Garuda Muda.
Malaysia U-23 coach, Brad Maloney, admitted that his team had recovered from fatigue after facing Vietnam and was ready to face the U-23 Indonesian national team.
“We are recovering, preparing to face Indonesia. The bronze medal means a lot to Malaysia,” said Brad Maloney as reported by Zingnews.
“Indonesia vs Malaysia is a special confrontation. The players are always motivated when playing against Indonesia. I’m ready for that,” continued the Australian coach about the duel against the U-23 Indonesian national team.
The Indonesian U-23 national team and Malaysia will face off in the 2021 SEA Games bronze match after both losing in the semifinals which will be held on Thursday (19/5/2022).
Garuda Muda lost 0-1 to Thailand while Harimau Muda also lost 0-1 to host Vietnam. Both teams lost because they conceded one goal in extra time.
Although he failed to catch the 2021 SEA Games gold medal and now has to face the Indonesian U-23 national team to fight for the soccer bronze, Maloney emphasized that the most important thing for him is that Malaysian players keep fighting.
“The most important thing is that the players have to fight for the color of the jersey they wear, for the fans. We will fight to win, because that is the sweetest thing we can give the Malaysian fans.
Although admitting the great motivation of his players ahead of the match against the U-23 Indonesian National Team, Brad Maloney also asked his team to be aware of the strength of Garuda Muda.
“The Indonesian U-23 national team has a deep squad, many attacking options, including naturalized players. They are a great opponent,” said Maloney.
“We need a lot of solutions and strategies to get good results. I hope the players will show their best potential.”
