Liverpool is believed to mind losing three times the Premier League's top scorer – Kevin Campbell claims Mohammed Salah has leverage in contract talks with Liverpool and believes the Merseyside club will have pressure to keep their star player.

The Reds have seen the repercussions of what if they fail to agree a new contract with their star player after seeing Sadio Mane move to Bayern Munich when the Senegal international’s contract expires on 30 June 2023 at Anfield.

Now Liverpool are under even more pressure as their best player in the Jurgen Klopp era and three-time Premier League top scorer, Mohamed Salah, also has the potential to leave the club as his contract expires next year.

Contract talks between the club and the player are currently at a stalemate as the club’s board object to awarding the Egypt forward a big contract because he is 30 years old, meaning they must be prepared to lose their star on a free next season unless agreeing a sale this summer.

When talking to Football Insiderex-Arsenal Kevin Campbell made an interesting claim and highlighted that Mohamed Salah had a huge influence in his contract talks at Anfield given his immense contribution during his time at Liverpool.

He said, “Salah had a big influence in contract talks. He is adored by the fans. No player is bigger than the club, but what Mohamed Salah has done at Liverpool is nothing short of incredible.”

“He really had a huge influence. The club who actually ran out of time to keep him because Salah’s contract only had a year left. I wouldn’t be surprised if his contract expired and he would still sign for Liverpool. I don’t think the club has any influence in this.”
