Two Indonesian mixed doubles, Rehan Naufal Kusharjanto/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati and Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, managed to secure a ticket to the round of 16 by winning on the first day of the Malaysia Open 2022, Tuesday (28/6/2022).
The Rehan/Lisa pair became the first to open a victory for Indonesia’s mixed doubles after defeating the Hong Kong pair, Chang Tak Ching/Ng Wing Yung with three games 23-21, 8-21, 21-18.

“We didn’t play well today. We are still adjusting the field and the direction of the wind. In the first game we were able to win, but in the second game we even hesitated to play even though the wind won. Only because the wind was strong, we were afraid the ball would keep coming out,” said Rehan through written sources PP PBSI in Jakarta.

After experiencing doubts in the second game, Rehan/Lisa also switched to playing more insistently in the decisive game.

“In the third game, Lisa told me to play loose. The coach also said that now focus on finding points on a field that loses the wind, don’t think about it when moving at intervals. We are also still playing too fast even though the opponent is actually not playing well, many die alone too,” said Rehan.

Not yet appearing calm makes Rehan/Lisa keep reminding each other. This is what makes them finally come out victorious.

The victory of the world number 46 pair was then followed by compatriots, Rinov/Pitha, who kicked out the vice hosts Chan Peng Soon/Cheah Yee See also with rubber games 9-21, 21-12, 22-20.
