Bali United’s dream to be able to go further in the 2022 AFC Cup title has certainly disappeared or failed to be achieved.

Even though they managed to win in the final match against Kaya FC, Thursday (30/6/2022) today, Bali United still failed to qualify for the semifinals of the 2022 AFC Cup in the Asean zone.

This is because Kuala Lumpur was able to win over Tampines Rovers in another match in Group H of the 2022 Asian Cup.
Bali United striker Lerby Eliandry kicks off Visakha FC at Wayan Dipta Stadium, Monday (27/6/2022).

Kuala Lumpur’s success in beating Tampines Rovers 2-1 in the other match made Bali United fail to secure the best runner-up status.

In fact, Bali United had to drop to third place after Kedah FA was unexpectedly able to beat Visakha with a landslide score in Group G.

Bali United’s failure to qualify for the next round is certainly very unfortunate considering the quality of the squad they have in the 2022 AFC Cup.

Indonesia leaves only one representative in the 2022 AFC Cup

Plus, the failure made Indonesia only leave one representative on the 2022 AFC Cup stage.

It is PSM Makassar who will be the only representatives of the Red and White who managed to advance to the semifinals of the 2022 AFC Cup in the Asean zone.

The team nicknamed Juku Eja was successful in qualifying with the status of winners of Group H which contains only three clubs.

With one win and one draw, PSM Makassar has the right to occupy the top position with a collection of four points.

The collection of points owned by Bali United is the same as the points collected by Kuala Lumpur City as the runner-up in Group H of the 2022 AFC Cup.

PSM Makassar has the right to occupy the top position because of its superior goal productivity over the Malaysian team.

This condition indirectly makes PSM Makassar entitled to continue its struggle in the semifinal phase of the 2022 AFC Cup.
