“I’ve said this many times. It has always been and will always be the most special tournament in my heart, the tournament that motivated me, inspired me to start playing tennis in a small mountain resort in Serbia where my parents used to run a restaurant.”

The win was his seventh Wimbledon title. He only lost to Roger Federer. Not only that, Djokovic also collected his 21st Grand Slam title or only lost one title to Rafael Nadal who collected 22 titles.

“I was four or five years old and I saw Pete Sampras win his first Wimbledon in 1992. I asked my mom and dad to buy me a racket, and my first thoughts about tennis were grass and Wimbledon,” he said.

“I always dreamed of coming here, just playing on this pitch, and then realizing my childhood dream of winning this trophy. Each time it becomes more meaningful and more special, so I am very blessed and very grateful to be standing here with the trophy.”

Djokovic really admires Kyrgios’ game. He believes the Australian national will return to the Grand Slam finals again.

“It’s hard to find words of consolation at a time like this, but you show why you are one of the best players in the world,” he said.

“I wish you all the best. I have so much respect for you and you are a phenomenal talent. I never thought I would say so many nice things about you! Ok, it’s official: this is a bromance.”[]
