Basarnas Evacuates Natuna Fishermen, Engine Stops in the Middle of the Sea – 1NEWS KEPRI

1NEWS Riau Islands – Basarnas Natuna evacuated three Natuna fishermen who had a boat accident. The fishermen were adrift in the sea before help arrived.

The head of the Natuna Basarnas, Mexianus Be Kabel said the accident occurred on Sunday (10/7) night.

“Three fishermen experienced engine failure while fishing in the Natuna waters,” said Mexianus, Monday (11/7).

The fishermen are 2.4 miles from Penagi Harbor, Ranai, Natuna. Basarnas Natuna received information regarding the fishermen from local residents.

“Three fishermen using a pompong (motor boat) with the aim of looking for fish in the Natuna waters, experienced an engine failure at 17.30 WIB,” he said.

Based on the report, the Natuna Basarnas immediately dispatched a SAR team to the location using an RIB boat to evacuate the fishermen.

“The Natuna SAR Office Rescue Team departed for Penagi port using the D-MAX Rescue Car with a distance of 7 km with an estimated travel time of 15 minutes, and continued with RIB 03 to the coordinate point location,” he said.

Head of the Natuna Basarnas Operations Section, Budiman, reminded fishermen to be vigilant before going to sea.
