Crazy Ball – Real Madrid are eyeing RB Salzburg’s Noah Okafor as a replacement for the two fringe strikers they are looking to let go in this summer’s transfer window.
The Switzerland international became the subject of Madrid’s interest after five years of his football career at Salzburg. He previously developed with Basel after making his debut in the main squad in May 2018. It was enough for Okafor two years to defend Basel, before finally joining Salzburg in January 2020.
In the news delivered USThe 22-year-old has skyrocketed with Salzburg, although he is not an irreplaceable first-choice striker at the Austrian club.
Okafor has 25 goals and 17 assists in 77 appearances for Salzburg so far. Although his name was not always included in the starting lineup, he managed to make Real Madrid interested in bringing him to the Bernabeu.
Madrid’s interest in Okafor also stems from the unclear play of Mariano Diaz and Borja Mayoral who both want them to let go in the transfer market this summer. While Carlo Ancelotti recently stated that his club will not sign any more players in this transfer window, the Spanish giants may be interested in a new striker.
Revealed The Hard Tackle, there are currently no clubs interested in Mariano, but Mayoral is reportedly set to join Getafe soon. Madrid of course must be prepared to bring in a replacement for the two reserve strikers, bringing Okafor into the plan.
However, Okafor is not the only young striker on Real Madrid’s radar, as Los Blancos are also monitoring Roko Simic, Benjamin Sesko, Armando Broja and several other strikers. Sesko is even more eager to join Madrid than any other player, according to recent news.
But a transfer for Okafor – or any other striker, will only happen this summer if Mayoral and Mariano both leave the Bernabeu, with Ancelotti looking to make Eden Hazard a backup striker in his squad. Of course, it will be interesting to see if the player will really be the main target for Los Merengues in this market.
